Standby generators spend almost all of their life doing nothing. That is the point of them, and it is also the problem: a unit can sit for a year looking perfectly healthy and then fail on the one night it is needed.
Scheduled maintenance is how you find out about a weak battery, a dirty filter or a fuel supply problem in advance, on a Tuesday, instead of in the dark during an ice storm.
A standby generator is an engine with a control system attached. Like any engine, it needs oil and filters on a schedule, and the electrical side - the battery, the transfer switch, the controller - needs checking and testing under load rather than just looked at.
We also confirm the exercise schedule is running as it should, since a generator that has quietly stopped exercising itself is a generator nobody is testing.
Every fact on these cards comes from how we actually sell maintenance. There are no tiers to decode and no package names to compare - the choice is simply whether you put the servicing on a contract or call us each time.

For an exact figure on either, call (574) 252-0660 - the price depends on the unit and where it is, and we would rather quote you properly than publish a number that turns out not to apply to your generator.
Kohler and Briggs & Stratton. Our technicians are Kohler-authorized and trained to Kohler's guidelines, so the person opening your unit knows that model rather than reading the manual on your driveway.
We do not service Generac equipment. If you have a Generac unit we will point you toward someone who works on them rather than take the job and learn on it.
You deal with the same small team that installed the unit. Four people, one shop in Mishawaka, and an owner who has been an electrician for 31 years and a fireman for 20 - which is to say, someone with a professional habit of turning up when the weather is bad.
Every standby generator runs itself briefly on a schedule. That cycle circulates oil, keeps seals from drying out, and charges the battery. It is also your early warning system: a unit that fails its weekly exercise tells you something is wrong while the utility power is still on.
When a generator quietly stops exercising - a tripped breaker at the unit, a dead battery, a controller fault - nothing appears to be wrong until the night it is needed. Part of every service visit is confirming that cycle is still happening.
If your unit will not start, will not transfer, or is throwing a fault, call us. We will get you on the schedule and tell you honestly whether it is a service item or something bigger. Because we are a small shop with our own installs to look after, we are not routing you through a national call center to book it.
