Three Rivers is in St. Joseph County, Michigan - confusingly, a different St. Joseph County from the Indiana one our shop sits in. We serve it as part of our southwest Michigan area, northeast of Mishawaka.
The town is named for its rivers, and river-adjacent property tends to come with the two things that make outages worse: heavy mature tree cover near the lines, and basements that depend on a sump pump. A sump pump without power during the storm that filled the basement is the definition of bad timing.
Southwest Michigan is counted alongside northern Indiana in regional outage reporting, and the same wind systems drive both.
A standby generator starts itself within seconds of the power failing, transfers your circuits through an automatic switch and runs on natural gas or propane. Nobody has to be home. Nobody has to go outside during the weather that caused the problem, and there is no fuel to fetch.
Whole-home coverage runs everything; essential-circuits coverage runs heat, refrigeration, water, the sump pump and some lighting for less. We price both at the assessment.
We install and service both, and nothing else. We are a Kohler Platinum Dealer with Kohler-authorized technicians, and we do not take on Generac equipment.
A home generator plus installation typically starts at around $8,000, and the total depends on the unit and what the install involves. Financing is available through EnergyPlus and the National Energy Improvement Fund.
Installations currently run six to twelve weeks out from a signed contract. We handle the pad, the gas or propane connection, the electrical work, the automatic transfer switch, and the permit and inspection. A technician commissions the unit and walks you through it before leaving.
A three-year service agreement at a discounted rate, or will-call service at $100 more per visit. Each visit covers oil and filters, the battery and charging system, the fuel supply, the transfer switch, and a run under load - because a generator that starts is not the same as a generator that carries the house.
Michigan permitting differs from Indiana's, and handling it is part of the installation rather than something we leave with you. Three Rivers is one of the communities named in our service area from the start, so this is a regular route rather than an exception we squeeze in.
