American Generator Solutions works out of a shop on North Cedar Street in Mishawaka, and we travel about ninety minutes from it. That covers seven counties in northern Indiana and a stretch of southwest Michigan. If you are inside that circle, we can quote you, install for you, and come back to service the unit every year.
The list below is where we have city pages. It is not a fence. Plenty of the homes we look after sit in townships and unincorporated areas that never appear on a list of cities, so if you do not see your town, call us and we will tell you straight whether you are in range.
These seven counties are the core of our work: St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Starke and Fulton.
Our home county, and the shortest drives we make. Mishawaka, South Bend and Granger are all here. Granger in particular has the larger, newer houses with finished lower levels that need a bigger unit than a starter home does, and it is close enough that a service call is a short trip rather than a scheduling problem.
Elkhart and Goshen. This is RV country, and the industrial base that comes with it means we see light industrial inquiries here alongside the residential work.
Michigan City and La Porte. Michigan City is the larger of the two and sits close enough to the lake that winter weather arrives earlier and leaves later than it does inland.
Plymouth and Warsaw carry our city pages here. Marshall County runs about three quarters owner-occupied, and a good share of those homes are on a well and a septic system, which changes what losing power actually costs you. Starke and Fulton are the edge of our range and we still go, it is simply a longer drive.
We cross the state line regularly for New Buffalo, Stevensville, Cassopolis, Edwardsburg and Three Rivers. Michigan permitting and inspection differ from Indiana, and we handle that paperwork rather than leaving it with you. Lakeside and second homes are common up there, and a standby generator earns its keep on a house that sits empty through a February storm, because the heat stays on whether anyone is home or not.
Northern Indiana does not have a quiet season. Weather drives our phone: tornadoes and straight-line winds in spring and summer, snow and ice through the winter.
In April 2025 more than fifty three thousand customers lost power across Indiana, and St. Joseph County had more outages than any other county in the state, over twenty thousand of them. Straight-line winds took out power across Elkhart, Lake, St. Joseph and Porter counties again in June 2026, and Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble and St. Joseph counties in August 2026. This is not a once-a-decade event you are insuring against. It is most years.
The same thing everywhere we go: a free in-home assessment, a written quote, a Kohler or Briggs and Stratton unit sized to what you actually want running, and the electrical work to connect it properly. After the install we set the exercise schedule, walk you through the unit, and come back for scheduled maintenance.
We are a Kohler Platinum Dealer and a Briggs and Stratton dealer. We do not service Generac, and we will say so rather than take the job and do it badly.

Don't see your community listed? We may still serve your area! Call us at (574) 252-0660 to find out.
